Reading T3/W2


WALT :
  • Identify Eco-friendly methods of controlling weeds and pests.
  • Develop strategies for persuading others to reduce the use of toxic chemical to control weeds and pests.


SUCCESS  CRITERIA:
  • I can explain the Eco-friendly methods for controlling weeds and pests.
  • I can understand the motive behind the two inventions in the story.
  • I can understand that our lifestyle choices can significantly reduce our impact on the environment.


Activity 1.
List 5 Eco-friendly ways to control weeds or pests..


-Get rid of dead plants as they are good hiding places for pests and weeds.


-When you see a little weed, pull it out before it seeds and spreads.


-Use healthy and natural compost, it irritates weeds and pests which causes them to maybe die or move to another place.


- Plant different types of plants so if a pests attacks one plant, lots more will grow.
Water your plants so that they will be strong and wont react to pests


-Using hot water is cheaper and more efficient


Activity 2
List down the consequences of using toxic chemical to control weeds and pests.
You could potentially hurt the actual planet or ground by using chemicals as it could also spread further than the original place that you sprayed it.
Spraying it in one place could also kill plants that are around the affected area.
It could be harmful to other animals and people.
Activity 3
How could you persuading others to use non-toxic weeds and pests control systems.


Well, it really depends how they. If they are up to be Eco-friendly. But if you are going to advertise something, giving a good name and photo is a good idea as the look is the best thing in advertising something.


Activity 4
Write a short poem about the advantage of using Eco friendly methods of controlling weeds and pests.


Trying to save the planet isn't for everyone.
But at times it could be lots of fun.
Use hot water to get rid of pests.

Because if you use the spray nothing will be the best.
Its cheap, efficient and easy to use
But if you don't that's money to loose.
